Danny Washington, excited about his new rock band, needs a place to practice, so he cleans out his grandfather’s old shed out back and finds an odd wooden spoon with strange silver markings. He gives it to his little sister. She sells it at a yard sale, and thus begins the spoon’s journey through their small town of Piper, Florida, as it changes hands from family to family and confounds the lives of those who cross paths with it. Cars crash, loved ones die, dreams are dashed, hope ebbs and flows, heroes rise, losers fall, and of all things, the spoon ends up back in the shed. Danny investigates the mystery of the wooden spoon and discovers that old shed hides a secret from Piper’s past, and he thinks it’s pretty cool. However, when a sinkhole swallows a popular town park, that secret turns deadly.
